The following surnames were taken from a petition circulated in Monroe County, Virginia requesting that their parent county, Greenbrier, cease efforts to tax them. The signatures were all in the same hand, indicating that a copyist created the list from a different source document of original signatures. This may account for the many spelling variations of surnames.

Searching for Thomas B. Scott and wife Mary “Polly’ Cantley who married 1st Feb 1823 Monroe Co. WV.
Searching also for the father and mother of Thomas B. Scott. They moved from Monroe Co. in 1823 and went to Harrison TWP Indiana.
Hope there is some one that can unlock the door for alot of us.
Thank You
Sherilyn Lane Weaver
Hi Sherilyn – I will check the notes I have on the Scott/Cantley family and do some follow-up for you. I have just rebuilt my computer and at the moment my genealogy database has not been reloaded.
I am going to be down at the Library of Virginia all day tomorrow which will give me an opportunity to check leads.
Thank you for mentioning that your Thomas Scott went to Harrison TWP Indiana. What county is that?
